First day at corporate life after MBA

I can remember the day 8 June 2009

my first day @ my first company .
For the first time I managed to reach corporate office of the company in time as i used to be always late in all my lectures .After completing MBA from SIU got placed in one of Indian MNCs.
Was excited to join the company as we have heard a lot about corporate life ...from the very first day we thought we will be managers and a bunch of ppl will start reporting to us .I felt proud by just imagining this .But when I entered with my friends in the company premises all the co workers were staring at us as some new fellow animals are entering in the Zoo. we were offered some Tea,coffee and snacks at our tables and ppl from some reputed MBA colleges attacked @ snacks like some hungry rodents who have got a sack of grain in the granary.
we met with some new people who will be our future colleagues. Most of the gentle man were showing their frustration in a usual fashion as they were not happy to see their female colleagues from other MBA colleges.They started quoting examples of ladies in some other IT companies and started cribbing on the selection procedure for gals by the company .To be frank I was also thinking on the similar lines at that point of time life but i handled myself as i got a call from my gal regarding the joining @ new company so i shifted my mind from other gals and started concentrating on her words.
She was asking questions like I have joined google and was asking lot of things about that company.She was excited as her joining was little later than me in some other company.
I also told her some fake things as i thought that she will have a bad impression regarding the company and as we all know MBA's always quote themselves high and fake things easily in front of others .

The first day lot of business heads came and explained about their department and organisation structure .No one was interested in that except a few and i was not included in that group.Some PPL who were laterals were asking question.Most of them were rubbish to make some impression in front of others.I smelt from the first three lectures that I am at a wrong place to work.It will be very difficult for me to work here as all the business heads were talking 20% Business and 80 % technology in their presentations .
I was thinking that after doing MBA also i will be doing the same thing that I was scared after engineering.Somehow I managed to open my eyes.
The HR announced that we have to report for the lunch at the terrace for in next 10 minutes.i thought atleast the company is good in Employee care and will be offering some awesome 5 star hotel Lunch for their MBA employees. Ppl started rushing and as me and my friends tried to get into the lift guard asked us to get boarded in next slot.when we reached the terrace in next slot we were surprised to see that about 90% of the batch was already there and we came to know they rushed @ terrace via stairs (9th floor).Somehow we managed to get the plates and after having a look at the lunch we analysed there was not much difference in the lunch provided by our college Mess as we saw the same MESS here also.

After grabbing some quick bytes we were in a mood to have a power Nap like (BOMEN Irani in 3 idiots)but all in vain as some more business Heads were waiting to eat our heads.After lunch we were struggling to listen to some of the old and experienced personalities in the industry.we were told that we have a restriction to complete 8 hrs in the company otherwise it will be a half day for us .so we were supposed to put our Bums on the cushioned chair ...I waited and opened my eyes with all my strength and nodded my head in a fashion that i am the only one in the company business strategy and wanted to take company to newer horizons.
I also asked one or two questions i the afternoon session so that it looks i m awake and interested.Everyone was looking at me after my question as i have asked the business head regarding his extramarital affair.I kept my mouth shut after these questions..
After all this I only heard the HR announcement that we are done for the day ...I felt the same when i was in first class used to wait for the closing bell .I was feeling very relaxed.Everyone was discussing regarding the company and the role we will be offered in the company .
I was least interested in all these talks .While leaving the conference hall I only asked one question personally to the HR ":when we are planning to have Pay & compensation session.
After all this i wanted to spend some quality time with my ..........
I gave her a call and planned to meet at our favorite place.She was very excited to know about the company and all that happened @ first day.I was least interested in all that but I was confident that it will be easier for me to manager her than these first day sessions.I told all my mates who were leaving that i wont be able to join them dinner and will have the same with one of my relative who is coming to visit me today.Finally the day ended and as i managed the later hours in a better condition than the first day session in the company.

I will never forget this day in my life as this was my first day of corporate life after MBA.After 2 years in the industry I can still remember the first day and the memories seems very much fresh .I got the inspiration to share all this from some of our first day pics posted in my friends facebook Albums.
Things have changed a lot in the last 2 years .Now the one who was interested to listen to my first day experience is not there and many more .......
